On April 13, 1999, with the help of State President Simington and State Secretary Genack, in a conference room in Vancouver, Washington, twelve officers started the FOP tradition here in Southwest Washington - Lodge No. 12 was established. And only minutes later we made a unanimous decision to call ourselves the:
"LOWER COLUMBIA LODGE."
The Founding Brothers are Eddie Alba, James Burgara, Mike Chylack, J. Scott Creager, John Davis, Kris Nowak, Dan Prows, Michael Shaw, Ron Stevens, Tim Thomson, Shane Yates, and Lawrence Zapata.
A temporary E-Board was established, the word spread quickly, and the fire was lit. Our next meeting was held on July 22, 1999 at a local Elk's Lodge. We swore in 13 new members and set up our E-Board. As of today, we are just over 160 members strong and have representation from Vancouver Police Department, Clark County Sheriff's Office, Washougal Police Department, Camas Police Department, WA State Department of Corrections, Cowlitz County Corrections, Burlington Northern Police Department, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Customs, and numerous other agencies throughout Southwest Washington and Northern Oregon. We are actively recruiting all Law Enforcement Professionals in Southwest Washington and Oregon that are interested in being a part of a long tradition and a proud organization -- The Fraternal Order of Police.
